These natural rubber rounded (cherry) dummies are made of a single piece of natural rubber, with no joints where dirt and bacteria can accumulate, which also makes it extremely durable.
The shield doesn't have a cut out around the nose, so the shield simulates a breast and touches the baby’s nose offering closer simulation to breastfeeding. The size of the shield prevents babies from squeezing the soother into their mouths, whilst the high level of elasticity of the natural rubber ensures that the shield does not leave marks on baby's face.
The rounded (cherry) teat tends to work better for breast-fed babies, because the tongue is positioned under the nipple as it is during breast-feeding, which helps prevent nipple confusion.
Pacifier Features:
- Rounded (cherry) teat
- One piece design eliminates places where bacteria can hide
- Larger shield touches baby’s nose, providing closer simulation to breast feeding
- Eco friendly biodegradable dummy
Reusable Case Features:
- Durable clear medical grade polymer case offering a clean environment for dummies and teethers
- Flexi-Handle to attach to a pram, handbag or nappy-bag
- Ability to hold up to three soothers or two soothers and one teether
- BPA Free
- Small - 0 to 3 months
- Medium - 3 to 6 months
- Large - 6+ months
Inclusions:
- 2 x Rounded Natural Rubber Soother
- 1 x Reusable Case, for convenient and hygienic storage.
Material:
- Made with 100% sustainable, natural rubber from the tree Hevea brasiliensis
- No chemical softeners
- BPA Free, no parabens, PVC or phthalates
Properties of Natural Rubber:
- After heavy use, the nipple of the dummy expands, so it will appear to be a larger size than that of a new dummy
- Being 100% natural means rubber pacifiers don’t use stabilising chemicals that keep the shape of the nipple
- A dummy may also expand from contact with oil - Natural Rubber is very sensitive to oil contamination from baby food or fried food - this oil may cause the rubber to swell
- As Natural Rubber Soothers are made from a 100% natural product it’s common for them to look different - the absence of artificial colours means they are in their organic form so some will be darker than others
- Because the Natural Rubber Soother contains no chemicals or anti-oxidants to keep it light, the rubber can sometimes darken over time - this is not a concern, it’s simply an effect of using a 100% natural product
- If the dummy appears to have a ‘whitish’ layer, this is due to scale that can attach to the surface of the dummy if left in water too long - it’s harmless and should disappear after a couple of washes with warm water and mild soap
- It’s important not to leave the Natural Rubber Soother in water beyond the very first sterilisation because it will make the dummy look dull and could cause it to age and become sticky more quickly
Care:
- Before first use -
Sterilise by immersing in boiling water for 5 minutes, then remove from the water and allow to cool
This will remove the oily film that naturally occurs on the rubber
Never allow to cool in the water
- Daily care -
Wash in warm water with mild liquid soap
If extra sterilisation is required place the dummy in a strainer and pour boiling water over the top
Do not sterilise in a bottle steriliser, wash in a dishwasher or leave in boiling water after the first clean
- Inspect the dummy carefully before each use, especially when your child has teeth Pull it in all directions and throw it away at the first sign of damage
Being natural rubber, the product will eventually turn brown and feel sticky to touch, this is when it should be replaced
- When not in use, dummies should be protected from direct sunlight, UV light or a heat source as this could lead to deterioration weakening the product
Dummies should be stored in a dry, covered container when not intended to be used immediately after appropriate sterilisation.
Safety:
-
Natural Rubber Soothers meet Australian Safety Standard for soothers (AS2432-1991/2008) FDA, European standards (EN1400) and GB 4806.2-94 standards
- Pins, cords or ribbons attached to a dummy poses a strangulation hazard, especially when attached to your child's clothes so it's recommended to use the dummy on its own
- The dummy should not be dipped in sweet or oily substances (e.g. syrups, honey, jam nor oily or fatty foods) as this can lead to tooth decay or adversely effect the integrity and service life of the dummy
- It is important to be aware in the event that the dummy becomes lodged in the mouth, it cannot be swallowed and is designed to cope with such an event but should be removed from the mouth with care as gently as possible
