The Story
These 100% natural rubber bottle teats have a round latex nipple, with an anti-colic valve to reduce air swallowed while feeding, which is suitable for both milk and water.
The round nipple promotes a similar tongue placement and sucking technique to breastfeeding, as the round shape allows the sides of the tongue to elevate and cup around the nipple, just like it does during breastfeeding. This helps to prevent “nipple confusion" if both breastfeeding and supplementing with a bottle.
Material:
100% natural rubber latex
Sizes:
- Slow Flow x 2
- Medium Flow x 2
- Fast Flow x 2
The flow rate refers to the size of the hole(s) in the nipple, affecting how quickly milk flows into baby’s mouth.
For newborn babies, a slow flow rate is recommended for slowing down bottle-feeding to better mimic breastfeeding and to better control milk intake. Normally, the flow rate will change over time - as baby gets older they will prefer a faster flow rate.
Signs that the flow rate is too slow:
- The baby becomes impatient or aggravated when eating
- It takes longer than 15-20 minutes to finish a bottle or the baby falls asleep during eating
Signs that the flow rate is too fast:
- The baby is gulping, coughing, choking or is swallowing too much air
Quantity:
Pack contains two (2) latex nipple/teats
Care:
The latex nipple/teat must be cleaned and sterilised before each use by scalding
- Pour it with boiling water and let it soak in the water for approximately five minutes
- Pick it up and let it dry on a clean towel
DO NOT use microwave sterilising, cleaning products or a dishwasher, as it will break down the natural rubber latex.
Renew the nipple/teat after using it for 4-6 weeks, for safety and hygiene reasons.
Do not leave the nipple/teat in direct sunlight.
Always inspect the nipple/teat before each use by pulling it in all directions and inspecting carefully before use - replace the nipple at the first sign of damage or weakness.
