The Story
These 100% silicone bottle teats have a round nipple, with an anti-colic valve to reduce air swallowed while feeding, which is suitable for both milk and water.
The round nipple promotes a similar tongue placement and sucking technique to breastfeeding, as the round shape allows the sides of the tongue to elevate and cup around the nipple, just like it does during breastfeeding. This helps to prevent “nipple confusion" if both breastfeeding and supplementing with a bottle.
The hypoallergenic, durable, ultra soft nipple material has a specially designed texture that aids proper oral placement and helps reduce accidental unlatching. Supportive ribbing reinforces the nipple against breakage and pressure.
Material:
100% Medical-Grade Silicone
Sizes:
- Slow Flow x 2
- Medium Flow x 2
- Fast Flow x 2
The flow rate refers to the size of the hole(s) in the nipple, affecting how quickly milk flows into baby’s mouth.
For newborn babies, a slow flow rate is recommended for slowing down bottle-feeding to better mimic breastfeeding and to better control milk intake. Normally, the flow rate will change over time - as baby gets older they will prefer a faster flow rate.
Signs that the flow rate is too slow:
- The baby becomes impatient or aggravated when eating
- It takes longer than 15-20 minutes to finish a bottle or the baby falls asleep during eating
Signs that the flow rate is too fast:
- The baby is gulping, coughing, choking or is swallowing too much air
Quantity:
Pack contains two (2) silicone nipple/teats
Care:
Clean and sterilise before first use - clean in boiling water for five minutes
Silicone bottle nipples can be sterilised via scalding or the microwave method :
- Confirm that your microwave settings are 800W (or equivalent) and that the water temperature is 100°C / 212°F
- Place the bottle nipples in a microwave-safe sterilisation box (like a BIBS pacifier box) and fill it with water
- Microwave for 60 seconds
- Allow the box to cool before removing the nipples
Always inspect the nipple/teat before each use by pulling it in all directions and inspecting carefully before use - replace the nipple at the first sign of damage or weakness.
Renew the nipple/teat after using it for 8-12weeks, for safety and hygiene reasons.
